Being a Mother

"If mothers could learn to do for themselves
what they do for their children when these are overdone,
we should have happier households. Let the mother go out to play!
If she would have the courage to let everything go
when life becomes too tense, and just take a day, or half a day, out in the fields,
or with a favourite book, or in a picture gallery looking long and well
at just two or three pictures, or in bed, without the children,
life would go on far more happily for both children and parents.
The mother would then be able to hold herself in "wise passiveness’
and would not fret her children by continual interference
even of hand or eye - she would let them be."
~Charlotte Mason~
I LOVE this quote...as a mother I feel the need to constantly "work". I feel guilty when I get away with a book to devour for a few moments because there is always something else I should be working on. I believe this quote really hits home... the children and home will be better off when we take the time to renew our spirit. I need to let the housework slide and enjoy the moment with my children or a moment alone when I am stressed. I know I should do this more often than I do and coming across this quote was a great reminder. Bye for now, I am going to have a hot cup of tea and read a book to my kiddos! Leanne

Psalm 93

Psalm 93

1 The LORD reigns, he is robed in majesty;
the LORD is robed in majesty
and is armed with strength.
The world is firmly established;
it cannot be moved.

2 Your throne was established long ago;
you are from all eternity.

3 The seas have lifted up, O LORD,
the seas have lifted up their voice;
the seas have lifted up their pounding waves.

4 Mightier than the thunder of the great waters,
mightier than the breakers of the sea—
the LORD on high is mighty.

5 Your statutes stand firm;
holiness adorns your house
for endless days, O LORD.

I came across these verses the other day and they just made my heart swell up in praise and adoration to my Heavenly Father! The ocean is so powerful, so uncontrollable, so breathtakingly beautiful, yet our Lord has the waves at His very command. It just blows me away to imagine the majesty, the holiness & the splendor of my Lord! Praise be to the Lord!

Today is your birthday
I can't believe it's true
Seven years ago in May
I gave birth to you

I have never been more excited to see
What things you would do
The person you would be
The love we could give you
Today as I remember the joys
Of having you as a child
Of raising such an energetic boy
Who has made my life happy and wild

I want to thank the Lord on high
For an answer to prayer
He saw my sadness, He heard my sighs
He sent you to me and answered my heart's cry!
~Love you always, Mom~

Fun Times

Oh, the fun you can have with water, mud, boys, salt and a little cooking oil!! :-)

It has been raining like crazy the last few days and the land below us is flooded. It sure is fun!!

We made salt paint in anticipation of the "salt water" when we get to the beach!

Here is Rylan cleaning up after his big brother! Cameron spilled the container of salt water everywhere.

Cameron outside playing in a miniature river he made.

Salt water vs fresh water. Which items float and which don't.

Dam building 101.

In a float in the tub...dreaming of the ocean.

In case you ever wondered a Sea Cucumber can tense up and blow it's internal organs out it's anus!! We found that rather amusing!!

Ocean in a bottle. This is where the cooking oil comes in from my first sentence. These are so neat!!!!

We made little one's too with sea creatures and glitter inside, but the big one is much cooler!

Our sunflowers are coming up and we are so excited!!
We did all this and much more in 2 days! We are having fun studying about the ocean and looking forward to seeing it in a few days!!

You will go out in joy and be led forth in peace; the mountains and the hills will burst into song before you, and all the trees of the field will clap their hands. Isaiah 55:12
